On our way into the second half of 2019. Time flies when you’re having fun! Have you had enough fun this year?
Here’s the view I enjoyed last weekend. Mother Nature has a way of helping me screw my head back on right.
Ready to push my limits. There are a few things I would really like to accomplish, by the end of 2019. Hope you will be there to ride the waves with me. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry, we’ll do some other exciting stuff I’m not ready to reveal yet.
One mini reveal is that I am reworking the website. With any luck the tears involved will be kept to a minimum. Including the vegan ice cream eating instead of kicking the computer screen!
For the love of you know who, please send me an email if you notice anything crazy happening. If my posts are suddenly in Japanese… Or porn videos are all over the home page or something. I’m not joking. Please be a pal and give me a heads up, I would be forever grateful. I don’t even know how to write Japanese.
Let me share a tidbit of info for anyone who may not know this. The possibility of helping just one blogger, will make it worthwhile. Drum Roll Please… Do not ever assume you can make changes to your site and that there won’t be consequences. Haven’t we already learned, some things in life come with loaded bags of consequence?
Thoroughly think everything you are doing through, do your research, ask yourself if what you are trying to add is worth it.
Changes you make may bring some unforeseen surprises you will have to deal with later. To make a painfully long story short, last fall I tried to add a plugin to help with the site’s SEO, whatever the F that is. The whole thing was a disaster, and I ended up having to go back in time. Did you know that was possible? I my friend am here to say, “Yes” it is!
Most of the problem was eventually fixed, but in terms of fun this was definitely the opposite. Two major issues I still have to resolve are: I lost my reblog button and the ability to make a ❤.
So to anyone who has had the very sweet intention of reblogging one of my posts but couldn’t find the silly button…It’s not you; it’s me. Thank you and I’m sorry. Also, assume that every sentence I write has a heart at the end of it.
As you already know, I [Insert Heart Here] you all!
Always. [Insert Heart Here]
I would if I could, but I can’t. [Insert Heart Here] [Insert Heart Here]
F.
I wish you well in your endeavours and will be interested in how your site develops. There are two points that I make that may be of interest.
Reblogging: Even though WP has ‘buttons’ for sharing to other platforms, any form of reblogging is subject to copyright law. That means that any post that has a copyright notice cannot be posted elsewhere without permission. A lot of users seem completely unaware of this.
When you add plugins there is always a risk as there is with hacking. Social media sites, including WP offer little protection. Until 12 months ago I maintained an educational site, Park Bench Tutors. The cost became too much but almost 80% of that cost related to providing security (the database recorded student details). That gives an idea of the cost of protecting your site.

Thank you so much for sharing this David! Definitely some important information to keep in mind. With all these factors involved, it’s nice for us to be able to help each other figure everything out.

Mid-year resolution s are a great idea, especially here in the northern hemisphere when somehow it feels easier to keep to them when it’s summer.
