Imagine. A large slaughterhouse recently had its license suspended. Animal activists in the city have apparently been fighting for this to happen, for quite some time.
Disturbing video footage was captured displaying extreme animal cruelty. Without listing too many gruesome details, cows are seen being skinned alive.
Maybe you think it was unnecessary for me to have written that line. It is also possible even something so terrible, doesn’t make you second guess where your food is coming from. The words are written for animal lovers, who soften when they read about truth like this. For hearts that ache a little and wish it could be different…
The pictures were taken at a busy downtown subway station. Would these images provoke a moment of reflection out of your day?
An undeniably strong animal rights presence seems to be moving in all around.
Are we finally ready for change?

Your post hit me hard. I hate hearing about cruelty to animals.
There is no need for this.

Greater thoughtfulness about our impact on the planet, including areas of animal rights, non-sustainable farming, and greater vegetarianism and veganism are essential for all our futures.

Thank you. I completely agree, essential. Change is no longer an option. The severe cost of our choices is becoming too great.

Sadly, the mass butchering of animals has been justified with incorrect beliefs that only humans have feelings, emotions, intelligence, and souls. If it’s to continue it should be done as humanely as possible.

Thank you. We have claimed ignorance for long enough when it has been proven time and time again that animals feel pain just like humans. Stopping meat consumption completely doesn’t have to be the only answer. As you are saying here, focusing on doing things in the most humane way possible.

I agree, and I do think we have to cut back on domestic meat production. The replacement of biomass with domestic animals coupled with the destruction of wildlife and the pollution produced needs to be re-balanced. I’m going to write something about that soon 🙂
